WORKS ON VIEW
Ward’s Valentines Project, which is one of his many long-term projects that perhaps, is his most personal. Every year, for well over 20 years, he has been making a Valentine sculpture which is a gift to his wife. In this show we focus on Ward’s Valentine’s, a collection of digital photographic prints of his original artworks that have been given to his wife for the over two decades.
ABOUT ARTIST
Ward Yoshimoto has lived and worked in New York for the past thirty years as a commercial photographer and fine artist. Born and raised in Los Angeles he attended CSU Dominguez Hills in 1980 as a design and studio major, and then in 1985 received his BFA in photography from The Art Center College of Design, Pasadena, California. In 1999 he received his MFA in sculpture from Brooklyn College, Brooklyn. Since moving to New York in 1985, he has continued to explore issues about art, photography, sculpture, the digital world, and the human condition; these among others are some of his concerns. He has shown both nationally and internationally and is currently preparing for his exhibition at BRIC, “Up For Debate” this winter in Brooklyn, NY.

Andrea Lauren -Now On View-

Andrea Lauren is a textile designer and print maker who’s charming works are a delight to witness! Using a multitude of traditional media, Lauren’s pieces may be contemporary, but still hold a feeling of old-world sentiment. Though Lauren is originally from England, these works are somewhat reminiscent of Eastern European folk stories and children’s books, both in content and style. Almost as fun as the final products is the process itself of making each print. Among the printmaking methods the artist uses to create her works are silk-screening and linoleum cut stamps.

Though these processes of printmaking allow the artist to make several of a similar image, the method of doing everything by hand from cutting to inking to printing itself means that each print will actually be slightly different. Further more, these prints are only available in limited run, and once they are gone, they’re gone for good!

To see some of these limited edition Andrea Lauren prints (of both silk-screen and linoleam) please visit the AG Gallery.

Artist Pick Up: APAK

Where is your Spring? Ours is here, AG Gallery. Currently, many of new art prints which are perfect for your new season’s room decor are on display: the works by one of our favorite artists, APAK (Aaron + Ayumi) from Portland, OR. Most of prints were all gone in few months, so we just received some of back-in-stocks and brand new ones.

As many people love their works so far and we have been asked so many times about them, we did a brief interview with Aaron and Ayumi about them and their works.  Hope you enjoy and get the idea how their unique and sweet art pieces are created.

Clay dolls by Mamaru from Japan

The curator selected small to large art pieces which would be great for the artsy gifts, such as paintings, sculptures, prints, potteries, artist books, postcards, accessory and many kind of handmade art pieces. This is the great opportunity for that if people are looking for extraordinary and one-of-a-kind holiday gifts this year or would like to give something special to someone special.

As we have retail space along with the gallery, we do the gift wrapping easily and even take domestic/international shipping! Also, people could take purchased artwork with you, which is impossible at regular exhibition.
We are always willing to help people who would like to find some great gift for holiday season, and we wish Happy Holidays for all.
