RATS RECONSIDERED | Erica Linnemann

“RATSRECONSIDERED” | Drawings by ERICA LINNEMANN

Saturday, September 24, 2022 ~

AG Gallery is pleased to announce “RATS RECONSIDERED,” Erica Linnemann’s second and largest solo exhibition, is opening on Monday, September 19, 2022. This collection of over 80 original drawings, of varying sizes and presented in rare vintage frames, will be exhibited in the gallery space downstairs along with the gallery window space.

“RATS RECONSIDERED” is a tribute to Bruce Nauman’s 1988 piece titled, “I LEARNED HELPLESSNESS FROM RATS.” This exhibition begs onlookers to delicately ruminate on the City’s loathsome, formidable, underground cohabitants and concede to man’s parallels with such vermin. Erica Linnemann is a Brooklyn-based line illustrator whose characters embody some of the tender, embarrassing, turgid and uncomfortable intimations of urban existence. Please contact the staff with purchase inquiries.

ABOUT ARTIST

Erica Linnemann is an illustrator based in Prospect Heights, Brooklyn. Her work attempts to render, both gently and satirically, some of the routine, yet unspoken, labors of urban existence, at times unveiling feelings of bruised resolve, disarming chagrin and unquenched desperation. The brute, turbulent quality of one drawing might provoke troubling musings, while the unapologetic simplicity of another churns the comforts of ignorance.
