They will be available at AG Gallery in the physical store and soon on the gallery’s official online store.

ABOUT KAGAKUYA & Creator Behind Kagakuya:

Yuzuru Kanda was born and raised in Japan. He moved to the US in 2015, and now works at a pharmaceutical company in Boston. Alongside his scientific career, Yuzuru is the owner of a chemistry jewelry brand, Kagakuya driven by his passion for the beauty of molecular structures. Inspired by the hidden artistry of organic molecules, Yuzuru wanted to transform this invisible beauty to wearable art. Yuzuru’s mission is to show a new appreciation for the artistic side of chesmitry that is not just about equations, but also about creativity and beauty, challenging the perception that it is a dull subject.

Diesl-Alder Reaction

Diels-Alder reaction is a 100-year-old reaction that Diesl and Alder discovered. This powerful reaction won Novel prize in 1950 and is still widely used in synthetic labs. This jewelry represents a transition state of the four-carbon piece (left), combining with the two-carbon piece (right) to form a six-carbon ring. Although this 4+2 = 6 type reaction looks uncomplicated, the reaction proceeds well in reality only with careful substrate design. The one shown here is the almost perfect combination of reaction partners and gives a very clean reaction.

Corrin

Corrin is a core motif found in vitamin B12. The beauty of the corrin ring is its highly asymmetric structure. The left side of the molecule lacks some double bonds, and it lacks one of the bridging carbons. The middle pearl represents cobalt, which is an essential metal found in vitamin B12. The name corrin derives from the fact it was found in the core of vitamin B12.

2-Butene

But-2-enes are the simplest alkene exhibiting E/Z-isomerism; one isomer has terminal carbons on the same side, and the other does on the opposite side. Their boiling points are so close to each other that the separation of two isomers is virtually impossible, yet their physical properties are similar enough that rigorous separation is not necessary in most cases.

Polyisoprene

Polyisoprene is a string of isoprene. The chain represents the bonds between each monomer. Polyisoprene is one of the most common rubber materials. It is robust towards abrasive force and is often used for car tires and shoe soles. Unlike natural rubber latex, synthetic rubber polyisoprene is gentle on the skin and unlikely to cause allergic reactions.

IMG_1744

2020 is coming very soon!

Thank you very much for all visit to AG Gallery throughout the year 2019. If you made it to any of our exhibitions in 2019, we very appreciate because that is one of the biggest supports and joy for us to curate exhibitions at our gallery.

We believe being an art collector is not something special today that only limited people can do, in a way that we have access to art and artists from many different ways, such as  SNS and online stores, that we did not have before. We believe becoming an art collector, however, is something special that adds fruitful qualities to our everyday life.

AG Gallery is excited for the new year to present new artworks from our gallery artists, as well as to introduce new artists to you all. We hope our gallery will continuously serve as a place to connect artists to our visitors in 2020 even more than 2019.

AG Gallery Constraction Work & New Exhibition Announcement

The last exhibition “Contemporary Sapiens” by Florent Poussineau was extended until October 13, 2019 and successfully closed. We had many visitors over the last weekend. Thank you so much for all of you who visited the gallery for the exhibition.

StadustForBreakfast2

After this exhibition, AG Gallery will be temporary closed for construction/renovation work. We are expecting to reopen the door in late October or early November, with a solo exhibition of Aaron Piland. The opening date of the exhibition will be announced as soon as the construction work is done.

ABOUT ARTIST

Aaron Piland is a portland based artist and illustrator who blurs the line between mind and matter. For the past 12 years he has been one half of an art project called APAK Studio, a collaborative art project with Ayumi Kajikawa based in Portland Oregon. They create rich and colorful gouache/acrylic paintings on wood featuring the utopian lives and adventures of curious little beings living harmoniously in lush fantastic environments surrounded by friendly little animals. APAK Prints are also available at AG Gallery.

Now, Aaron Piland is starting his own solo project. “Stardust for Breakfast” will be a series of prints and originals translating his thoughts and feelings into color and form, like an astronaut exploring the cosmos, he rides in a ship of the imagination exploring the mysterious inner dimensions of emptiness and form, visiting abstract landscapes that melt into the vastness of space on an epic search to bring back hidden treasures and ancient memories lost in the cosmic debris of time and space.

Their paintings have been shown in galleries and museums in Hawaii, New York, LA, Seattle, Portland, Europe, Australia, Japan, San Francisco, and Portland.
