Limited one of a kind handmade Mashiko wares by Hanako Sakashita has been gaining collectors in our neighbor Williamsburg. New pieces are now displayed at the storefront handmade & art prints space. We recommend you to come grab the one you like before someone takes them, if you are one of our loyal customers of our artist’s original pieces. Please make sure to also check out the current exhibition at AG Gallery downstairs when you visit us.
Mashiko yaki (Mashiko ware) is a famous style of Japanese pottery produced in and around the town of Mashiko in Tochigi Prefecture.
Nerikomi is a traditional Japanese handbuilding ceramic technique that involves stacking, layering, and slicing colored clays to create intricate geometric or organic patterns that run all the way through the clay body
Currently, we are focusing on mugs by the artist, but Hanako Sakashita made using her Nerikomi technic with Mashiko clay, also creates a variety of plates, bowls, and cups.We had also featured her plates, bowls, and a selection of unique art pieces in the past.
